From January 6, 2021, to October 29, 2024, our views shifted from that of a sitting President acting decidedly un-presidential to a candidate appearing oh-so-presidential and ready to lead.
On the hundredth day of her campaign, Kamala Harris took back the Ellipse in our nation’s capital and rightfully returned it to the American people.
She reclaimed it from its sullied association with Donald Trump’s call for insurrection and violence.
In less than half an hour, she shifted it from a symbol of hate to hope, from a place once filled with angry jeers to one of deafening joy.
A mob once riled up to revolt was now a massive crowd inspired to work with one another despite our differences.
From fanning fear of change to being open to progress.
An angry throng filled with the terror of losing their place in the hierarchy of our nation was now a mass of Americans inspired to give truth to what our country aspires to be.
To who is welcome here and who can claim to be an American.
In that same place, calls for insurrection were replaced by calls for inclusion.
A country for freedom for every American.
A promise to deliver us from the madness of Donald Trump.
And give us back our country.
